The F3 Denver Field Guide · Part 02
Your First Workout
No sign-up, no fee, no fitness bar to clear. Here's exactly what happens when you show up in the gloom for the first time, from the disclaimer to your new name.
The welcome
Show up five minutes early in workout clothes: athletic shoes, water, gloves at some AOs, a headlamp in winter. You'll be greeted, introduced as the FNG (Friendly New Guy), and paired with a battle buddy so you're never lost or alone. The Q opens with a short disclaimer: he's not a professional, you're here of your own volition, modify anything.
The beatdown
Forty-five minutes, led by that day's Q. He's a rotating peer, never a paid trainer. Warm-up, then a workout that's different every single time: circuits, hills, coupons, partner carries. Push hard or modify; every exercise scales. Nobody finishes last alone.
- Out of shape? Then you're exactly who F3 is for. MODIFY is a complete sentence.
- The pace Fast guys loop back. The credo is leave no man behind, and it's enforced.
The Circle of Trust, and your name
Every workout ends shoulder-to-shoulder in the COT: a count-o-rama, a name-o-rama, announcements, and a closing word, either a prayer or a moment of silence. Then the fun part: the PAX ask about you and give you an F3 name you'll carry from then on. Around here men answer to Speedo, Thriller, B-Guy, and Turntables. Yours is waiting.
- After Coffeeteria: coffee and conversation. It's where the workout becomes a brotherhood.
- Cost Nothing. Ever. It's a core principle.
Every PAX, about his first post
